First
impressions count. Make sure the agent you
select presents your company honestly and
fairly to underwriters. A poorly presented
submission will adversely affect your opportunity
to receive the best proposal. Require the
agent to complete a thorough evaluation
of your company well in advance of any decision
dates. Your insurance agent is your ambassador
—make sure it is an agent that will
represent your company well. Some business
owners also “shop” their insurance
every year. This can be very detrimental.
Many underwriters see submissions from the
same companies every year, and easily determine
the “shoppers’. These applications
are moved to the bottom of the stack because
the underwriters are looking for long-term
relationships.
